Sales & Marketing Manager

We are looking for a Sales and Marketing Manager to oversee the Sales and Marketing Teams to develop sales and marketing plans and programs to optimize profit and meet marketing, financial and corporate growth objectives; coordinate the RFP process; and develop sales programs to generate revenue. The Manager will work closely with Product Development, Communications, Finance and Client Services. This is a hands-on position with the Manager responsible for individual sales targets.

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing

  • Coordinates development of market research, identifies and tracks market trends, and develops market strategies.
  • Maintains a network of relationships in the industry to remain current on industry trends and developments
  • Provides financial and business recommendations for product selection and definition
  • Collaborates with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, engineering, marketing, and operations to develop and provide product definitions and positioning responsive to customer needs and market opportunities.

Sales

  • Achieves or exceeds personal and team revenue objectives
  • Manages day-to-day success of product sales and marketing strategies in conjunction with company marketing resources
  • Manages the production of competitive analysis
  • Provides product and market expertise and training to other departments
  • Manages the development of all major deliverables, including all product and market content for overall positioning, sales tools and regional or product segment marketing programs
  • Participates in key sales situations and demonstrations for the product and sales information for product line(s) including trade shows, training events and product demonstrations.

Proposals

  • Oversees project management of proposal response.
  • Provides senior level liaison with managers of other departments and with customer.
  • In alignment with Sales targets, sets goals for response and win rates.
  • Communicates proposed process to relevant stakeholders on an ongoing basis for deadline awareness.

Leadership

  • Hires, trains, supervises and manages performance of the Marketing Communications and Sales teams.
  • Participates as a member of the senior management team in development of corporate strategies.
  • Develops, manages and is held accountable for operating budget and forecasts.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business or Computing Sciences.
  • Experience: 5 to 6 years experience in managing and executing strategic product marketing and sales programs.
  • Requires a minimum of 5 years fire or emergency services experience. Preferably in Operations for a fire or EMS agency or experience dealing with the public safety market. Knowledge of data system needs and functions, back-office operations and market segmentation.
  • Demonstrated track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets, both personal targets as well as those of the team.
  • Experience with Fire and/or EMS services software would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of assigned FDM Software product(s) or committed to learning FDM Software within six (6) months. Thorough working knowledge of company functions, sales and marketing and/or service policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must, as this position requires a significant amount of communications deliverables. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Strong interpersonal skills - demonstrates a positive, respectful and service-oriented approach to interactions with others and enjoys working as part of a team.
  • Ability to identify, as well as creatively solve problems and take initiative to improve processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint
