FDM NFIRS 5.0 Wizard & Reporter

The FDM NFIRS 5.0 Wizard guides users through the process of filling out forms for NFIRS based on the incident type selected. With the FDM NFIRS Reporter, you can also electronically submit NFIRS reports to state reporting agencies.

NFIRS Wizard

The NFIRS Wizard is fully compliant with the NFIRS 5.0 standard. The Wizard simplifies data entry by only presenting users with the relevant forms based on the Incident Type being reported on. Data entry is simplified as data fields are color-coded and the wizard prompts you for additional information as required by NFIRS rules. NFIRS reports can be annotated with narrative text.

NFRIS forms included in the Wizard are:

  • Basic (NFIRS - 1)
  • Fire (NFIRS - 2)
  • Structure (NFIRS - 3)
  • Civilian Fire Casualty (NFIRS - 4)
  • Fire Service Casualty (NFIRS - 5
  • Hazerdous Materials (NFIRS - 7)
  • Wildland Fire (NFIRS - 8)

Plus One Code

The NFIRS Incident module complies with the NFIRS Code Plus One standard, allowing local definition of incident codes. Incident type codes can be extended by one digit to allow for additional detail. These extensions are recognized by the electronic submission tool, the NFIRS Reporter.

NFIRS Reporter

The NFIRS 5.0 Reporter extracts incident reports from your database and automatically generates a report file in the format required your NFIRS state authority. At runtime, the Reporter automatically checks reports that are flagged for submission for errors. All errors are written to an error log that you can use to make corrections. You can also decide to exclude certain reports from the NFIRS submission, such as incidents with open investigations.

NFIRS Support FAQ

The US Fire Administration's website has an excellent NFIRS FAQ to help answer your NFIRS questions. You can also browse their Support Center page that includes information on what NFIRS is all about, NFIRS uses, training, handbooks, forms and other support.
